A SOUTH Craven school hopes that its sponsored read will kindle a long-lasting love of books and its pupils.
Glusburn Community Primary School held the sponsored event during the autumn term to celebrate and encourage lifelong reading at home and school.
The project was organised in conjunction with the local organiser for Usborne books, Karen Jones, and all the money raised was used to buy new books for the school.
The books arrived this month.
In addition to the £705 sponsorship money raised by pupils, Usborne also donated 60 per cent of the total raised in extra free books to the school.
The total value of the books was £1,128.
Glusburn Community Primary School head Richard Hunt said: “The school would like to thank the Parent Teachers Association for supporting this event.
