KEIGHLEY Market is celebrating Eid.

A range of free activities is being staged at the Bradford Council-run hall, in Low Street, next Saturday (July 1).

Free drinks and snacks, including samosas and Kashmiri pink tea, will be handed out to shoppers.

There will also be henna tattoos and face painting, plus a puppet parade by Cecil Green Arts between noon and 4pm.

And market superintendent John Glover will don traditional South Asian attire and distribute free gifts and balloons.

The event is the market's third annual celebration of Eid, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Stallholder Mohammed Amar, of Babycare, said: "The event is always welcomed by the traders and wider community, bringing many smiles to people's faces. It is a fun day."

Jackie Smith, from Just For Paws, said last year's celebration had been a huge success and she hoped the latest would be equally successful.

"Celebrating all the festivals – like Eid, Christmas and Easter – is fantastic and part of what the market is about," she added.
