PARENTS and pupils gathered at Holy Family Catholic School to say goodbye before the students departed on a trip to Spain.

A total of 25 students departed for the Cala Llevado holiday complex, in Catalonia, north east Spain.

A spokesman for Holy Family explained that the trip was designed to give pupils a chance to enjoy what should hopefully be a sunny but intensive week of water-based sports.

During their stay at Carla Llevado the Keighley students will be able to try out pursuits such as sailing, kayaking, snorkelling, windsurfing and paddle-boarding.

The Holy Family trip leader Peter Riley said: “The climate in Spain is more reliable than it is here, so we can almost guarantee a solid week’s worth of tuition.

"If we were to set up this kind of activity closer to home we would be very dependent on the weather, and would probably end up losing a couple of days out of the week."
