A TRIO of teenagers addressed parish councillors about their plans to set up a youth council for their area.

Jacob Blackman, 19, from Haworth along with Jordan Pullen, 16, and Alex Arana, 15, both of Cross Roads, spoke at the latest meeting of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council.

They explained that they had already held a meeting on May 28, and wanted to represent the voice of young people in the parish.

They added that they have so far looked at how other youth councils operate, to work out how their own organisation could be structured.

Cllr Peter Clarke said: "These young people are very passionate and diligent about this. I think it's an excellent project which the parish council should support."

Parish council chairman Cllr Gary Swallow said the council had already agreed in principle to back the idea.

He said it would be passed to the council's own finance and overview committee, which would examine the finer detail of the initiative.
