A NEW children's book has been released to help raise cash for a Keighley-based charity that rescues, fosters and re-homes cats.

Paul Sullivan, who lives in London, wrote "Sammy's Lost Stripe" to support Keighley Cat Care (KCC) in memory of his own cat Sammy who had recently died.

Mr Sullivan teamed up with Japanese based artist and fellow KCC supporter Yuriko Mitsuoki to have the book illustrated.

Charity spokesman Trish Armistead said: "Yuriko is another of our Twitter followers who happens to be a fantastic artist.

"She and Paul worked together to create this story of Sammy and Flickie to raise money for us.

"Yuriko is well known on Twitter for her amazing, characterful avatars of tweeting cats and her beautiful colourful images add a delightful edge to this sweet story.

"Paul also follows us on Twitter and has been parent to many ex-feral and rescued cats. His story is based on two of those, who have now passed away.

"KCC is a charity run by a small group of volunteers and relies entirely on donations from the public and fundraising. We have no external funding. "Everyone who worked on Sammy's Lost Stripe gave their time for free, and all royalties from the sale of this book go directly to our charity so we can continue our good work."

Some copies of the book are available at KCC's shop in Cavendish Square and it is also available to buy for £7.99 online at Amazon.
