A WILSDEN-based brewery has produced an ale in homage to Bradford City FC.

Bingley Brewery – in Shay Lane, Wilsden – is launching Bingley Bantams Gold, a 4.2 per cent blonde beer.

The tipple is being introduced as part of a collaboration with Bingley Bantams, a City supporters' club.

Initially it will just be on sale at the Firepit, in Market Place, Bingley, where a launch event takes place on Thursday, July 27, from 6.30pm.

The ticket-only event will feature appearances from City manager Stuart McCall, chief executive James Mason and former player Wayne Jacobs, who will sample the first pint.

Bingley Bantams was set-up in April this year and already has nearly 100 members.

It has further shown its commitment to the club by sponsoring new signing, Northern Ireland striker Shay McCartan, for the coming season.

Ian Taylor, Bingley Bantams secretary, said: “We thought ‘how about having a beer for us?’.

“It will help get our name known.

“There was a need for a supporters’ club in Bingley. We will be running coaches to all of City’s away games this season.

“We wanted to support the community and charities as a whole as well as the club and this was a chance to do that.”

All proceeds from the launch night will go to One in a Million. The charity, located next to City’s Valley Parade stadium, provides sports, arts and enterprise for disadvantaged children and young people.

The charity works with more than 1,000 children and young people a week in areas across the district, including Keighley.

Mr Jacobs, co-founder of One in a Million, said: “I am extremely grateful to the supporters’ club for doing this. Without the support of groups like Bingley Bantams we would not be able to carry our work on.

“It’s fantastic for us as a charity to get the support of groups and also the football club, who we work closely with.”
