A COUPLE in Keighley will be ‘braving the shave’ on Saturday July 22 to raise cash for cancer charity Macmillan.

Izzy and Steve Shaw, from The Gables, will have their heads shaved at the Cake'ole cafe in the Royal Arcade, Keighley.

They will submit themselves to the razor at 11am.

Izzy said: “I have had cancer three times and we have lost friends through cancer too. Throughout this Macmillan have been wonderful.

“Due to arthritis in my spine and hips I can no longer do the Race For Life so decided a drastic head shave will be my way of raising funds this year.

“Steve said he would do it with me and also shave his beard! He has had a beard for over 40 years so this is amazing.”

“People have been sponsoring us online and by direct donation on a sponsorship sheet.

“Everyone who donates to our ordeal will be included in a prize draw for handmade items . All made by me including the one-of-a-kind mohair heirloom teddy bear."

Cancer care charity Macmillan said thousands of people were ‘braving the shave’ to stand proudly alongside men, women and children with cancer.

A spokesman said: “By braving the shave you’ll be helping people living with cancer take back control so they can start to feel like themselves again.”

Macmillan provides services such as nurses, support centres and advice lines.

As part of the appeal, Macmillan Cancer support has teamed up with the Little Princess Trust so that people can donate their hair.

The trust provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.
