AT least a dozen Keighley residents had a chance to put their concerns to the town's police inspector at a meeting in Keighley Civic Centre.
The parishioners had all previously raised law and order issues with town councillor Fulzar Ahmed, who arranged for them to meet inspector Khalid Khan in the Civic Centre last Thursday. (July 13)
Cllr Ahmed said among the matters voiced by the residents at the event were drug use and drug dealing, people speeding in high value cars, CCTV in Parson Street, Lawkholme, obstructive parking outside schools and concerns about mosque security in the aftermath of the fatal attack on Muslim worshippers in Finsbury Park, London.
He added: "It was a very constructive, positive meeting. We had people there from Knowle Park, Highfield, Lawkholme and Fell Lane.
"The people who attended were reassured by inspector Khan's commitment to deal with these issues.
"The main message he gave them was that the community needs to support the police by providing officers with information.
"He explained that things can't be solved overnight and the police do have to prioritise how they respond to incidents."
