A SUSPECTED drug dealer was chased by police officers through Keighley town centre after officers spotted someone unwisely dealing from a vehicle in front of a marked police car.

A spokesman commenting on the West Yorkshire Police – Keighley Facebook page last night said a police constable and a police community support officer spotted the brazen offence being committed in Malsis Road, Knowle Park, at 7.20pm yesterday. (July 19)

He said the vehicle involved in the drug dealing was then driven away from the officers, going through a red light in the process.

He added: "After a short foot chase in the town centre a man was detained for driving offences.

"Officers searched his vehicle and found a carrier bag containing numerous bags of suspected drugs. A large quantity of cash was also found on the man.

"He has been arrested for dangerous driving, failing to stop and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

"Officers are committed to removing drugs from our streets."

The man arrested was a 25-year-old Keighley resident, who has now been released pending further enquiries.

The police spokesman said people who suspect someone in their neighbourhood is growing or selling drugs should contact Keighley police by calling 101, using the online form on the West Yorkshire Police website or by e-mailing Keighleynt@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
