SEVEN Jazz will be branching out from Chapel Allerton into the city centre on August 3 for the first Leeds Jazz Festival.
There will be six free-entry live performances in Millennium Square and ticketed workshops including How To Learn Jazz at the nearby Carriageworks Theatre.
The headline act will be the Snake Davis Band, led by the world-renowned saxophonist who plays everything from jazz standards to a Michael Jackson or Prince hit. He has recorded and performed live with large names such as Paul McCartney and Kyle Minogue.
Bassist Max Kahn will pay respect to great trombone groups of the past as he performs Open Letter To Mingus at the festival. Max will lead a seven-piece band keeps alive the spirit of legendary bassist and composer Charles Mingus.
The Tom Sharp Jazz Orchestra, an award-winning young Leeds big band, will play music from across the big band repertoire.
