IT CERTAINLY wasn’t three times lucky for homeless moggy Maurice.

The animal has been returned three times to Yorkshire Cat Rescue and now the charity is desperately seeking a ‘forever home’.

Maurice arrived at the re-homing centre in Cross Roads as a stray in February and soon became a favourite among staff and volunteers.

Centre manager Sam Davies said: "He was a super friendly lad and quickly found a new family.”

A month later the new owner called to say Maurice wasn't getting on with their other cat, but a family member had fallen in love with him and had asked to adopt him instead.

This didn’t work out because Maurice appeared not like furry company, possibly from having fights with other cats while living on the street.

Maurice was put up for adoption again, this time as an only cat, and soon charmed itself into a new home – then problems struck again.

Sam said: “His new family were over the moon and we were sure we wouldn't see

him again.

“A month later though his new owner called us in tears; she was severely allergic to Maurice.

“Medication did not help, and so he came back to us for the second time. Again, no one's fault but bad luck."

Sam said the “lovely happy boy” has become unsettled due to his frequent moves, so she is issuing a plea for an ideal and absolute final home for Maurice where he can find his sparkle again

She added: “He just wants to be the only cat in the family, and with a personality like his, you really don't need anyone else."
