MORE than 400 people gathered in Lund Park for Keighley’s latest Great Get Together.

Lund Park Community Group coordinated the community picnic in memory of murdered MP Jo Cox.

Group spokesman Jo Horrox said: “The park hosted people from different cultures, backgrounds and ages all enjoying the sunshine and taking part in archery, cycling, running, games whilst listening to the sounds of reggae!

“It was lovely to see so many families playing in the park having fun and enjoying the glorious sunshine. With support and help promised by so many at the event then we hope to be able to do this again.”

A host of local organisations were involved including Bradford Council, Keighley Children’s Centre, Roshni Ghar, Kick Start Parkrun, Community Action Bradford and District, Church of the Nazarene and Stig of the Dub DJs, and Bangladeshi Community Association.

Bradford Council donated £200 towards the cost of the Great Get Together.

The Friends of Devonshire Park are also planning a Great Get Together with a host of other agencies and groups.

The event will be on Wednesday, August 23 from 1pm to 4pm.

The Friends are inviting local people to join them for a community clean-up on Wednesday, August 16 from noon till 2pm.

Meet at Devonshire Park sports area where there will be bags for recycling and rubbish, gloves, tabards and litter pickers.
