KEIGHLEY people are being urged to ensure they're registered to vote.

Bradford Council has sent forms to households across the district, checking that information held on the electoral register is correct.

If there are no changes, people can call a freephone number, 0800 197 9871.

Alternatively, people can visit householdresponse.com/bradford or complete and return the form in a freepost envelope provided.

Anybody not registered at all can go to gov.uk/register-to-vote to complete the process.

Young people aged 16 or over need to be registered, so that their details are ready for them to vote when they turn 18.

Kersten England, the council's chief executive and electoral registration officer, said: "It is so important that people are registered to vote.

"You have to be registered to have your say in the local elections next year and any future elections.

"It only takes a few minutes to check the forms are correct or register to vote."

Further details can be obtained from the electoral services team on electoralservices@bradford.gov.uk or 01274 432287.
