“PARP parp!” was the sound as Sutton Community Primary School pupils portrayed the story of Toad of Toad Hall.

The youngsters presented Wind in the Willows – The Musical in the Fells Theatre at nearby South Craven School.

School head Fiona Beetles said the year five and six pupils acted, sang and danced like professionals in the “memorable” production.

She said: “Several of the audience were heard to comment that it was difficult to believe that they were ‘just children’.

“The production was truly memorable with words from one of the songs felt really poignant to those watching in the audience; most especially the families of Y6 pupils who are now preparing to leave us.

“We clearly have some talented stars of the future in our midst.”

Fiona thanked staff members and others for producing the show and providing support on the night, and families for providing great costumes and helping children learn scripts.
