PRIMARY school pupils from across Keighley were given important messages about staying safe by keeping away from the region's power network.
The youngsters were taking part in a Stay Safe event held at Keighley College.
A spokesman for Northern Powergrid explained: "Hundreds of pupils took part in the event, a wide-ranging initiative which offers advice and support on everything from fire safety and not playing with electricity as well as the risks posed by railway lines and rivers.
"Staff from various agencies, including Northern Powergrid, put on practical demonstrations of the risks young people can face on a daily basis.
"This included a demonstration of what to do if there is a fire in the home, the power of electricity and how to avoid and stay safe near overhead electricity lines and substations."
Leena Markovic, Northern Powergrid’s school safety presenter, said: “We’re proud to be part of this event which brings a real focus to safety advice in a fun and engaging way.
"It helps us get vital messages out about playing and staying safe around our power network.”
