WEST RIDING County Cup champions Bradford City Women recorded their first win of pre-season at Hull City.
Two goals from Laura Elford ensured the victory, with the striker scoring her second late on after Nat Bell had equalised for the Tigers.
It was the Bantams' second summer outing after a clash with FA Women's Super League side Durham, which produced an encouraging performance without the result to match.
Meanwhile, recently-promoted Guiseley Vixens also stepped up their preparations with a clash against Super League opposition, losing 5-1 to Sheffield FC.
The Vixens, who return to the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division this season, took the lead through a Chantelle O'Hara penalty in a tight start to the game.
However, Sheffield went on to show their quality with a clinical comeback as they continue preparations for the start of the FAWSL's first ever winter season.
Guiseley's development side also suffered defeat, but again when they were taking on strong opposition. Poppy Saffery scored her first goal for the Vixens as they took on FC United's first team, losing 4-1.
Bradford Park Avenue Ladies opened their pre-season programme with a 7-0 win at Ossett Town, with goals from Kirsty Russell (4), Nic Chamberlain, Sophie Woodrup and Becky Teale. Their next friendly is at Harrogate Railway tomorrow.
Brighouse Town pitted their wits against a higher-ranked outfit, losing 6-0 to Fylde of the division above.
Summer signing Lauren Davies scored four for the Coasters, who are expected to challenge for the FAWPL Northern Division title this season, while last season's top-scorer Natasha Flint bagged a brace.
