THE Bradford-born Boshell brothers will be back in tandem at Park Avenue after both signed on for the new season in the past week – and boss Mark Bower feels there will be another couple of additions before the campaign starts.

Danny Boshell is Bower's assistant manager but the midfielder has now put pen to paper to continue as a player.

His younger brother Nicky missed the final two months of last season due to injury and was out of contract, so he has had to battle back, but has now earned a new deal.

Bower said: "Danny was always going to be here in a coaching role but he still has plenty to offer in those little old legs of his, so we're happy to register him as a player for another season.

"His experience is vital and I'm looking forward to seeing him pulling the strings in our midfield again. Obviously we will have to look after him and he's not going to play every game but he will be influential for us.

"Nicky had a tough time with injury but he's come back and worked hard and proved himself in pre-season. We all know what a good player Nicky is and the only question was about his fitness – but that's beyond doubt now.

"Nicky is an important part of the squad and he knows a lot of the new signings after playing with them elsewhere."

Avenue play their final friendly of this pre-season today as they host Altrincham, while their campaign begins in earnest the following weekend with a National North trip to Tamworth.

Bower has brought in some new faces during the close season as he shapes the Avenue squad ahead of his first full season in charge – but he revealed that the club's business might not yet be complete.

"There will be some signings before the Tamworth game next Saturday," he said confidently.

"We're looking to get a couple of the trialists on board after they have impressed in the friendly games and in training.

"We're in discussions with them and it looks like we're close to arranging a few deals so, fingers crossed, we will have them available for the first league game of the season."
