DENHOLME are facing Barrowford in Sunday's Mewies Solicitors Craven League Wynn Cup final at Bradley (1.00).

Although the Lancastrians have one win under their belt in 1988, fellow Division One Denholme have never won the league's blue-riband event.

Barrowford, who have also won the only previous cup meeting between the sides in 2015, were also runners-up in 2002.

But Denholme are four points better off in the table, with Barrowford currently occupying one of the two relegation places, so everything points to a close contest.

Denholme on their day can take any attack apart.

Both Matty Wear and Toby Priestley have scored nearly 500 runs this season and are backed up by skipper Richard Taylor and Isaac Murray.

Their bowling is also very potent, with Wear, Taylor and Priestley joined by Ryan Judson and Joe Greenwood.

The batting stars for the Bull Holme side, who are captained by Jonny Ormerod, are Ashir Imdad, whose brilliant century was the backbone of their win over Haworth Road in the semi-final, Shakeel Butt, Aziz Iqbal and Jahangir Babar.

The bowling attack has no particular star as the wickets tend to be shared.

One innovation this year is that if the match is stopped by the weather, it will not be decided by the toss of a coin or bowling at unguarded wickets, but will be re-staged.

That fate has already befallen the Cowling Cup final between Bradford & Bingley and Haworth Road Meths, which will be held on Sunday, August 13 at Denholme (11am).

And there will also need to be a re-staging of the Manorlands Plate final – pencilled in for Sunday, August 20 – as rain interrupted the final between holders Ingrow St John's and Bingley Congs at Oakworth.

Saints had reached 38-2 in the final off four overs in the final, with Ronnie Chokununga despatching Harry Greenhalgh for two big sixes, before heavy rain curtailed play.

Ingrow St John's faced Division Two champions Hepworth & Idle in the semi-finals and, again after a hold up for rain, scored 141, with Ahtasham Raza hitting 45 (three fours, four sixes) and Chokununga 42 (two fours, three sixes).

The best bowling came from Jonny Robinson (2-35) and Dave Matthews (2-18).

The reply started brightly, with 30 coming for the first wicket before Tom Hawksworth fell for 19.

Fellow opener Simon McDermott, whose 72 off 41 balls included six fours and four sixes, tried to find a partner to stay with him, but no other batsman reached double figures in their 114, with H Asiam taking 4-20 and Sarum Qureshi 3-8.

In the other semi-final, played over 16 overs per side, Wynn Cup holders Congs made 123-6, with Sam Porter and Andy Blackburn each topping 30 and Aidy Dibb making a rapid 28 at the close.

Division One champions Crossflatts just topped a hundred in reply, with former Congs player Mayank Singh doing well with the bat.
