UNDER-fives at Nessfield Primary School in Keighley put their pedals to the metal to raise cash for premature babies.
The nursery children between them rode 5km on their little trikes and were sponsored to raise money for Airedale Hospital’s neo-natal unit.
Proud nursery teacher Sarah Pearson said: “They managed to raise an amazing £360 which I feel is pretty good for three and four-year-olds.
“The morning children did their rides in the pouring rain. The road in pairs with the parents watching.”
Staff worked out how much distance each child would have to ride for their share of the 5km, with each of the 54 youngsters riding four times around the playground.
One of the nursery’s children was a premature baby, having received treatment at a hospital in Leeds.
Sarah said the event was also organised to build community spirit.
