KEIGHLEY Scouts and gardeners have benefited from the latest round of grants from the Craven and Beamsley Trusts.

Bosses of the twin trusts give money to Keighley District Scout Council to recommission a water treatment unit and the Grouse Street Gardening Group to fund a community garden.

The Keighley-based trusts, whose motto is “Local Giving for Local Needs”, shared £7,250 between nine groups across the former Archdeaconry of Craven.

Administrator Rowena Garton said: “We would like to receive more applications to the Beamsley Trust.

“Whilst the Craven Trust primarily focuses on groups and organisations that benefit others, the Beamsley Trust works with referring organisations to enable trustees to give grants to individuals and give them a better quality of life.

“This can be through access to support, services, opportunities and other activities.”

The next round of applications will take place in October, and the deadline is September 8.
