THE TORRENTIAL showers that had taken place throughout the day abated for the competitors in the latest Bronte Wheelers-Neophix ten-mile time trial on the Kildwick to Skipton and back course.

The event was for road bikes only with no time trial specific bikes allowed but this did not affect the winner, professional Robert Scott.

Riding for Team Wiggins, he set a course record for road bikes which had stood for over 30 years with a time of 20min 18sec.

In second place, riding for Bronte, was Steve Ayers in a time of 22min 27secs and in third place, and fastest junior, was Jamie Ridehalgh riding for Spokes racing team.

First veteran was Bronte’s Darren Caines with a plus of 2min 45sec. Second was Ilkley's Nina Benson with a plus of 2min 40sec and third was Bronte’s John Driver with a plus of 2min 10sec.

The previous weekend saw Ayers scoop second spot in the Team Swift open 100-mile TT with a time of 3hours 54min 30sec.

In the same promotion Bronte’s Steve Lloyd posted a time of 2hours 6min 40 seconds in the 50-mile event with team-mate Darren Caines just seven seconds behind in what was a great result for the club.
