A HAWORTH woman has been handed a community order after pleading guilty to one count of child neglect.
Bradford Crown Court heard officers found Sarah Smith, 22, of Sun Street, lying on the living room floor on June 4, but could not raise her.
Gerald Hendron, prosecuting, said when they looked through the window, they saw a large Akita dog and found a small child which had been left to its own devices.
Smith was said to be showing signs of intoxication.
When various attempts were made to communicate with her, she acted in a “bizarre manner” and admitted to consuming drugs and alcohol.
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC handed Smith a 12-month community order.
It also included a nine-month drug rehabilitation requirement so her progress could be monitored.
