A new volunteer fundraising group has launched in Keighley to raise funds for Marie Curie nurses to continue supporting people with terminal illnesses.
The Marie Curie charity is now welcoming anyone else who would like to get involved.
The new group is already busy looking after collection tins, filling rotas for forthcoming bucket collections and organising their own fundraising events.
Its members want to hear from anyone who would like to support them.
They are currently planning a community bake sale and Christmas stall in November.
And they wish to recruit people who can spare just two hours of their time to help at a bucket collection on October 6 at Keighley's Sainsbury’s.
Last year the Marie Curie nurses reached at least 420 terminally ill patients in the area, making nearly 19,500 visits to provide specialist palliative care and emotional support.
Aanika Dhillon, community fundraiser at Keighley Marie Curie, said: “The new fundraising group will make a huge difference locally, especially for our wonderful nurses.
"Everyone involved already is clearly passionate about the difference our nurses make to terminally ill people in the community, and eager to support them in their work which is wonderful to see."
The will meet again on August 24 at the Dickie Bird Pub in Long Lee.
Call 01274 386190 or e-mail Aanika.Dhillon@mariecurie.org.uk for details on how to get involved.
