KEIGHLEY district students who attended Craven College endured a nerve wracking wait for the results after the culmination of two years of study.

This year the pressure was compounded by some of the new A Level qualifications being solely assessed on exams.

Students gathered at the Aireville Campus to collect their results.

Josie Simpson, from Cowling, gained A Levels in psychology, B, English literature, B, and geography, C.

She is now on her way to take up a place at Manchester University to study geography.

Josie said: “After going to school in Bradford I wanted a change of scene. I also wanted to study varied subjects which didn’t limit my options and which left things open for me to decide what I do in future.

"My tutors have been great and the college has given me a good, supportive environment which has helped me achieve.”

Richard Johnson, a 24-year-old mature student from Sutton, is on target to achieve his life goal with AS level results in biology, A, chemistry, B, and psychology, A.

Richard said: “After I left school I went into employment but realised in my early 20s that I had life goals which included going to university to study for a degree.

"Craven College gave me the opportunity I wanted to do A levels and I've enjoyed the experience of being back in education.

"I'll be progressing from AS to A levels in September and will be applying to study biology at university in 2018.”

Craven College principal Robert Bellfield said: “Every year I'm so proud of how hard our students work.

"It's particularly pleasing to see the students achieve the A level and BTEC grades they need for the next stage in their lives, whether it's a university course or apprenticeship.

"I'd also like to pay tribute to the teaching staff who've supported and inspired these young adults.”
