CAMPAIGNERS improving the lives of people with dementia in Keighley want to recruit people for a fundraising walk in Upper Wharfedale.
This year's extended walking challenge for Dementia Friendly Keighley features the Dales Traverse route, and organisers would like another 27 people to take part.
The challenge takes place on September 16 and will be known as "28 do 28”. It refers to 28 people walking the 28 miles of The Dales Traverse, with each promising to raise at least £28.
The walk will begin under the face of Kilnsey Crag, then takes in Kettlewell, Cam Head, Buckden Pike, Litton and Arncliffe before returning to Kilnsey via Mastiles Lane. The aim is to complete the route within 12 hours.
Photographer Bob Smith is specialist adviser for the trek. He is the editor of Grough, an online outdoors magazine and is an experienced Hill and Moorland Leader.
DFK spokesman Maggie Marsden said: “We're delighted to have Bob Smith with us this year.
"He's superbly well qualified to advise the walkers on the safest way to stay on track and complete the challenge successfully."
Organisers will stage preparation walks prior to the main event, so participants can prepare themselves. All walkers must be over 16.
