KEIGHLEY air cadets visited Keighley fire station in advance of a recruitment drive.

Teenagers from the 2431 Keighley Air Training squadron were welcomed by firefighters to the station in Bradford Road.

Members of ‘White Watch’ were on hand to explain the workings of a fire appliance.

Cadets were interested in learning the procedures of a ‘call out’, and took charge of the water hose on the Keighley station’s newest vehicle.

The cadets were joined on the visit by their new officer-in-command Aime Craig and other staff members Tracey King and Thomas Clayton.

Keighley ATC meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Drill Hall in Keighley. Activities include flying, shooting, sports events, summer camp participation and the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

Pilot officer Craig is keen to get cadets involved in more activities away from the base.

The unit will hold an open meeting on September 20 from 7pm for young people from the age of 12 (going into year eight). You cadets will start in September, 25.

Anyone interested in joining the staff team can look around and ask questions.
