A DOMESTIC abuse charity which has a partnership with a Keighley organisation has launched a new free helpline number.

Support and advice is available by dialling 0808 2800999.

The national line is being operated by Bradford-based Staying Put, which can also help callers access other services provided by the charity.

Calls can currently be taken between 9am and 5pm weekdays, but it is hoped to extend provision into evenings and introduce a live website chat facility.

Staying Put director, Yasmin Khan, said: "We have been supporting survivors of domestic abuse for over 15 years, helping over 50,000 people change their lives.

"Our expert helpline and advisors support domestic abuse victims and survivors to explore their options, providing crucial emotional help and assisting with referrals to services such as emergency accommodation, legal advice, security measures and counselling.

"We are now working more regionally across Yorkshire and Humber, with offices in Barnsley as well as Bradford and a partnership with Domestic Violence Services in Keighley, so a new national freephone number makes us more accessible to a wider area."

The previous helpline number is still operating, but only until the end of this month.
