A BOMB alert led to part of a Keighley street being cordoned off today.

Police were called to Arncliffe Place late this morning when what was believed to be a hand grenade was found at a property.

Residents neighbouring the house were evacuated, a cordon was put in place and part of the road closed as a precautionary measure.

A bomb disposal team was called in and the device was confirmed to be a replica.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Officers attended Arncliffe Place, Keighley, after what was believed to be a hand grenade was found in a property.

"We worked with EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), which checked the device was safe and it was confirmed as a replica.

"A cordon was put in place and part of the road was closed as a precaution."

Police added that residents had now been allowed back to their homes.
