A CHARITY founded in Keighley has dished out 100 boxes of chocolate as an Eid message of goodwill.
Al-Imdaad Foundation UK has distributed boxes of Thorntons chocolates to Keighley Fire Station, Keighley Ambulance Station and to staff at the maternity, children's and emergency wards at Airedale Hospital.
Other boxes were donated to the office of Keighley MP John Grogan.
Abdul Ahad, a Keighley-based trustee of the charity, said: "We gave out these chocolates as gifts during our Eid celebrations as part of our Food for Thought project, and they've been very well received.
"Eid is about spending time with family and friends and exchanging gifts, so we wanted to extend it to the wider community.
"It's been more relevant with year, with the EDL demonstrating in Keighley on the Saturday (Sept 2) and Eid starting on the Friday. (Sept 1)
"We just wanted to send out a positive message to people of all faiths in our locality.
"Nationally the charity has distributed about a thousand of these Thorntons chocolate boxes, and we're also going up to Cumbria to give them to the same people we helped out during the floods there."
