SHOPPERS in the Airedale Shopping Centre were invited to share in the spirit of Eid celebrations earlier this month.
An Eid Fun Day was staged in the Airedale Centre on September 9 by Bradford-based charity Save the Mothers Trust, backed by Keighley Town Council.
Arshid Ahmed, one of the organisers, said: "The town council made £1,000 available towards this Eid event.
"We had 500 large pastry samosas, 15 kilograms of pakoras and over 1,000 desserts were served.
"Also throughout the day, there was face painting, Henna patterns and a bouncy castle which was free for children and their families to enjoy.
"We had an Arabic calligraphy artist who created some amazing designs of names that people took home with them.
"£601 was raised by generous donations from the people of Keighley. This money will be used for local projects in the near future.
"We'd like to thank the shopping centre and its manager Steve Seymour for supporting us."
