A RENOWNED explorer and travel writer is heading to Steeton.
Gordon May is giving an illustrated talk about a solo trip he made to Vietnam, riding a 1941 ex-British Army 350cc Matchless motorbike.
He travelled across eastern Europe, the Caucasus and the Karakum Desert then over the Khunjerab Pass, the world's highest international border crossing.
Finally arriving in Vietnam, he rode along the coastal highway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The talk, Overland to Vietnam, is being hosted by the Girder Fork and Classic Motorcycle Club.
A spokesman said: "Enduring ice, snow and tropical heat, Gordon and his Matchless survived backbreaking terrain, petrol shortages, crazy traffic, a sandstorm and a major earthquake."
Anyone is invited to attend the talk, at Steeton Hall on Tuesday, October 3, 8pm.
There is a £2 admission fee for non-members, who are asked to contact John Hunter on j.hunter359@btinternet.com or 07960 917483 in advance if they wish to attend.
