RAIL passengers across the district face more disruption tomorrow and Thursday as union members stage the latest in a series of strikes.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union is planning walkouts on both days in a long-running dispute over the axing of guards on trains.

The dispute affects the Skipton to Leeds and Bradford lines, which go through Keighley, services to and from Ilkley, and services north of Skipton to Lancaster and Settle.

Operator Northern says only a limited service will run both days.

Richard Allan, for the company, said: "Customers can be assured that we are doing all we can to keep them on the move.

"We are focusing on maintaining a train service on our busier routes between 7am and 7pm, with replacement bus services available where trains aren't running.

"Information is being displayed on posters at stations and colleagues will be out across the network supporting customers on their journeys.

"We ask everyone to take time to plan ahead, keep checking services on our website and consider whether your journey needs to be made."
