KEIGHLEY has been ranked among the UK's ten most affordable destinations for holiday homes during the October half-term break.

Rates for a two-bedroom rental in Keighley average £377 for a week-long stay, taken between October 16 and 27.

The data, produced by TripAdvisor company HolidayLettings.co.uk, places the town seventh in the national 'most affordable' league.

Cheapest place for a holiday-home haven according to the firm is Norfolk coastal resort Hemsby, where you can pick-up a rental property for £240 a week.

Mablethorpe and Great Yarmouth are ranked jointly on £299.

The only other places listed as being better value than Keighley are Kilkhampton in Cornwall, Clacton-on-Sea and Sandown, on the Isle of Wight.

Laurel Greatrix, for the company, said the figures showed holidaymakers could plan a half-term getaway without breaking the bank.

"Many two-bedroom properties sleep four people so for just under £14 per person, per night, you can really make the most of the October half-term break with an autumn 'staycation' spent exploring the UK," she said.

"Keighley's countryside charm – with its heritage steam trains, museums and more – is perfect for an October half-term holiday."

She added: "Holiday homes continue to rise in popularity.

"With advantages like extra space, flexibility, unique facilities and privacy, rentals offer holidaymakers incredible value and all the comforts of home.

"The growing demand is an advantage for homeowners too, as they're able to generate extra income by renting out their properties."
