PROPOSALS to build 42 new homes south of Denholme have been submitted to Bradford Council planners.

The application is for land at Foreside Mill, in Halifax Road.

Industrial buildings which once occupied the site were demolished, but an earlier planning approval for 35 new homes on this spot has expired.

A detailed design and access statement submitted with the latest application explains that the development will consist of a mix of two and three bedroom, affordable, terraced and semi-detached houses.

The statement adds: "The scale of the new homes will respect and reflect the local character and design of the surrounding area, whilst ensuring sufficient private amenity space for each dwelling.

"Vehicular access will be from the eastern boundary of the site from Halifax Road.

"The application site is well connected to public transport links, with a bus stop within 50m walk of the site.

"The bus services include the numbers 504, 68 and 69, which connects the proposed development site to Bradford city centre and Halifax town centre, which ultimately gives sustainable access to a wider range of shops and services.

"The proposals represent an improvement on the existing visual landscape of the site, being brownfield and unkept, whilst developing a scheme that is sensitive to the surrounding Green Belt landscape."
