ONE of Keighley district's summer galas has generated an impressive sum for Manorlands Hospice.

Hundreds was raised at this year's East Morton Gala, which attracted a big crowd to the village on July 9.

Members of the gala committee have now visited Manorlands to present the hospice's fundraising team with a cheque for £750.

A spokesman for the committee said: "Our 2017 gala was very well attended, with residents soaking up the sun and enjoying the procession led by the Leeds Pipe Band.

"Once on the gala field, locals were able to enjoy a variety of stalls, a barbecue, a bouncy castle and even archery.

"We were delighted to hand over the cheque to Manorlands.

"And as a committee we've also been able to donate £750 to the Liam's Smiles charity, with contributions also going to local village groups and organisations. Next year’s East Morton Gala will be taking place on July 8 2018."

Liv Moffat, community fundraiser at Manorlands, said: “We are very grateful to receive the cheque and for the gala committee putting in all their hard work organising the event."
