THE first meeting to form a dedicated Manorlands fundraising group in the Haworth area has taken place in the village.
The event was staged in the King's Arms pub, in Church Street, yesterday evening. (Oct 11)
Senior Manorlands Hospice fundraiser Hayley Ibbotson, who was among those who attended, said: "Although there are other fundraising groups for Manorlands there is a bit of a gap in terms of anything closer to where we're based.
"People in Haworth already support us strongly, but we want to have more of a presence in the area.
"So this meeting was about bringing people together who are interested in taking part.
"It went really well and we're confident that we can get a group of people established in Haworth, who will be prepared to collect money and also raise awareness for us.
"They'll be kicking off by raising money at the Haworth Steampunk Weekend and at the Torchlight Weekend."
