MANAGERS of Keighley locations used to film a keenly anticipated new BBC drama are looking forward to seeing the first episode, due to be screened on Saturday. (Oct 21)

"Gunpowder", produced for BBC One, will tell the story of the notorious plot to blow up the House of Lords in 1605. Actors starring in the film include Kit Harington and Liv Tyler.

Among the Keighley locations where filming for the three part drama took place were East Riddlesden Hall and Dalton Mills.

East Riddlesden Hall marketing officer Carla Weatherall said: "They were filming here for two evenings during the winter, and used two rooms inside the house – the great chamber and the downstairs dining room.

"We were really excited that they chose to film here, it's great for the area."

A spokesman for Dalton Mills said: "We can't wait to see the mill on TV screens again, and it was great to have the Gunpowder cast here last year.

"They approached us about viewing the location, because many of the features of the mill were a good fit for the era of the production.

"Our reputation as a location seems to be growing by word of mouth at the moment, and we're really pleased that the mill is being put to such good use.

"The Gunpowder filming crew were here building the set behind the mill and filming for around three to four months. It was fantastic to see it unfold.

"It's always amazing to see the sets spring up from nothing into something so realistic and intricate, and they used the existing jail set within the Genappe Mill for some of the scenes.

"With Gunpowder being such a high-profile BBC production, and bringing stars like Kit Harington to the mill, it's another great accolade for us and for the town as a whole."
