SANTA Claus, a space man and a zombie nurse feature in the latest charity calendar from Silsden and Steeton medics.

Staff at the Silsden and Steeton Medical Practice have donned weird and wonderful outfits for their 2017 calendar.

The costumes were made out of equipment at the two health centres such as prescriptions, toilet rolls, bandages, a stethoscope and tongue depressor. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance will benefit from sales of both the calendar and a pair of Christmas cards.

All the pictures have been taken by Helen Walker, one of the practice’s doctors as well as being an award-winning photographer. She took up photography as a serious hobby several years ago and has since been successful with the prestigious Guild of Photographers.

She shot the first calendar for the Medical Practice about four years ago, in aid of Manorlands. Helen said the time seemed right this year to create another calendar, only this time in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

She said: “Our new calendar is based loosely on the idea of costumes made out of medical equipment and stars many of our staff and doctors.

“We’ve worked with a wonderful creative team -- Scarlett Fox (stylist), Dani Warren and Michelle Pan (hair and make-up), and photographers Dr Helen Walker and Kevin Prime. Were also assisted assisted by Bradley Walker and Faith Martin.”

The calendars went on sale at last month’s first flu clinic organised at the Silsden surgery. Volunteers from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Silsden and Steeton Medical Practice’s Patient Participation Group were joined by Bradley Walker as the spaceman, to sell the calendars.

The calendars cost £7.50 and are available from Silsden and Steeton Health Centres or can be posted out for an extra £1.50.

The December pictures from both calendars having sold as Christmas cards at a cost of £1.75 of one and for a pack of four for £6. The images are the 2016 toilet roll wedding dress and Advanced Nurse Practitioner Mike Syrat as Santa Claus.

The calendars pictures include a blue haired zombie nurse in bandages played by Dr Emma Lawrence and a stethoscope Medusa, played by Dr Rose Kennedy.

Dr Rebecca Barron wears a 1920s dress made from a tongue depressor, receptionist Anita Rogers is the Android Lady, and Jenny McVay wears a dress made from prescriptions.
