POLICE were called out to a report of a serious sexual assault off Oakworth Road, Keighley.
The incident led to a footpath being cordoned off by officers in the early hours of this morning, while investigations were carried out.
The Keighley News understands the area affected was a path that links Postman's Walk and Beckside.
Commenting this afternoon, a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 11.48pm last night, (Oct 13) police received a report of a female having been seriously sexually assaulted by a male in Keighley.
"The scene, which is a ginnel off Oakworth Road, has been cordoned off for forensic examination and the victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.
"Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious around the time of the incident is asked to contact police via 101 quoting log number 2475 of October 14."
