YOUNG volunteers are being sought to take part in a historic hall's nativity.

The National Trust is looking for children to play the roles of Mary, Joseph and the three kings in the East Riddlesden Hall production.

Youngsters aged nine to 12 can apply.

The parts are non-speaking, but participants should be comfortable performing in front of an audience.

Costumes will be provided.

The nativity takes place at the 17th-century hall on December 16 and 17.

The roles will last about an hour each day and children can volunteer for either or both days.

There will be free admission to the event for the families of those involved.

Emily Taylor, volunteering and community involvement manager at the hall, said: "As a charity we rely on volunteers from all age groups and backgrounds.

"By spending just an hour of their time with us this Christmas, children will not only be helping us look after this amazing place, but will be rewarded with magical memories."

In addition to the nativity, there will be a family trail around the gardens, a Christmas market in the barn and food and drink.

Tickets for the event - from 3.30pm to 7pm - are available, priced £2 each, from nationaltrust.org.uk/riddlesdenhall.
