A SPOOKY spectre will greet visitors to Keighley's Cliffe Castle Park next Saturday night, October 28.

Brave souls are being challenged to complete laps of the fright-filled grounds in the first-ever Manorlands Hallowe'en Monster Dash.

The mile-long course will include caves, woods, paths and even a small section of the museum itself.

Music, lighting and some special effects will add to the haunting atmosphere.

Entrants will arrive in Hallowe'en costume to be greeted by a suitably-attired Cliff the Castle mascot.

Opera singer Carmelina Bagarozza will perform, and dance groups and the Big Soup theatre company will also be among those involved.

Participants will receive a head torch before setting off and Monster Dash medals will be awarded to all finishers.

The extravaganza is being organised by Manorlands' Riddlesden and East Morton support group, which also stages the PaintRush fundraiser at Marley.

There will be two dashes – a family-friendly event beginning at 6.30pm, followed by a scarier session for over-12s and adults at 7.30pm.

The event lead, hospice fundraiser Andrew Wood, said a fantastic night was in prospect.

"We have over 50 people involved in terms of making the event happen – and they are really getting into the spirit of the night!" he added.

"I'd like to thank the Friends of Cliffe Castle who came-up with the idea in the first place of using the grounds and the whole Cliffe Castle team, which has been great.

"Also, thanks go to the Riddlesden and East Morton support group for organising it."
