A CONFERENCE organised by a Keighley town centre-based solicitors will offer practical insights into the issues surrounding child sexual exploitation. (CSE)

The event organised by Makin Dixon Solicitors Ltd is called "Child Sexual Exploitation – Safeguarding Children and Young People".

It will offer training on the nature of CSE, as well as perspectives from both a victim of this crime and a parent of a child subjected to this abuse.

Nazir Afzal, former North West chief of the Crown Prosecution Service, who successfully prosecuted the Rochdale grooming gangs, will be among the people attending.

He is supporting the conference, which is also being backed by the organisation Parents Against Child Exploitation and by Sammy Woodhouse, a victim of CSE.

A spokesman for the organisers said: "It's our vision that through professionals and agencies working together we can help protect children and young people at risk.

"The conference takes place at the Midland Hotel, in Bradford, on Thursday November 9. Registration starts at 8.45am, with an opportunity to network and meet other delegates. The conference concludes at 1pm.

"Places are strictly limited and we'd encourage people to book their place as soon as possible. Spaces will be limited per organisation and will be on a first come first served basis."
