HEAVY rain brought flooding chaos to parts of South Craven last night.

The main road through Glusburn and Colne Road at Cowling were both badly affected.

Burnley Bus Company was forced to divert some of its services via Skipton due to the flooding at Cowling.

The 8.28pm M4 Burnley to Keighley bus and the 10.11pm from Keighley were among those hit.

A man had to be helped from his vehicle by firefighters after he got stuck in a water-filled ditch in Colne Road.

Crews from Earby and Skipton were called out to the incident just after 7pm.

Northern Rail said services on several of its routes had been affected by flood water and debris, but principally in Calderdale and East Lancashire.

Keighley-district has escaped relatively unscathed from the ravages of Storm Brian.

There have been no reports of major incidents.

But motorists are warned to take extra care on some minor roads, due to surface water and branches brought down by the high winds.

Keighley Bus Company said this morning there were no weather-related issues on its network.
