A MASKED baseball bat-wielding thug demanded cash from staff working in a Haworth convenience shop during a night time raid over the weekend.
Police have said the man struck at Sun Street Stores shortly before 9pm on Saturday. (Oct 21) He struck the shop's counter with the baseball bat and ordered staff to hand over money.
But the would-be robber then fled from the store empty handed and is now being hunted by police.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "This is being investigated by CID officers and enquiries are continuing.
"The suspect was a white male, aged 18 to 20, had his face covered and wore a jacket with the hood up."
People with information are asked to contact the police on 101 or call the 0800 555 111 Crimestoppers line.
Sun Street Stores has also put out an appeal for information on the crime via its own Facebook page.
