COMMUNITY organisations in the Oxenhope area have been encouraged to apply for cash as part of the Ovenden Moor Wind Farm grants programme.

Oxenhope Parish Council wants people to know that the fund has now launched and the application deadline is 5pm on November 27 this year.

A grants panel will begin reviewing applications on the week beginning December 18, and applicants will be informed of the decision from January 8 next year.

A spokesman for Oxenhope Parish Council explained: "Grants will support community and voluntary sector not-for-profit groups, in work that is of benefit to the community in the fund area. This area is places within a five kilometre radius of the wind farm site." The village of Denholme also falls within this same radius.

Ovenden Moor Wind Farm Fund is being managed by Community Foundation on behalf of Yorkshire Wind Power Ltd, a joint venture between Energy Power Resources Ltd and E.ON Climate and Renewables.
