A NEW interactive teaching board bought with financial support from Skipton Mechanics' Institute is enhancing children's learning at Glusburn Community Primary School.

The school was awarded a grant of £2,000 from the institute to go towards the cost and installation of the board.

It was fitted in the school's most recently built classrooms, which were opened in September.

Skipton Mechanics’ Institute is a 170-year-old charitable trust, which promotes both education and recreation for young people through financial grants or scholarships.

Tom Ashworth, chairman of the trust, and Robert Bellfield, trust secretary, visited Glusburn CP School on November 2 to view the new technology and meet some children from year six who have been benefitting directly from the grant.

Head teacher Richard Hunt said: “The school is extremely grateful of the donation received from Skipton Mechanics’ Institute, and pleased that our children’s learning experience has been enhanced by the installation of the new interactive teaching board.

"As a community primary school it is heartening that the school is supported by local charitable trusts to meet the needs of Craven’s young people.”
