PARKSIDE School students made the annual pilgrimage to their local war memorial two days before Armistice Day.

The school was represented at the Cullingworth cenotaph at 11am by the Student Leadership Team and members of staff.

Poetry was read by head boy and girl Jacob Berry and Hannah Lucas, and a wreath was laid by Deputy Head Boy and Girl, Ryan Hills and Niamh Cater.

Majella McColgan Parkside School’s parental involvement worker, said: “We were joined by students and staff from the local primary school, the Rev Suzy McCarter, and also the Rev Robert Johnson our Pastoral Mentor.

“Our Sixth Form Students have been selling poppies around school all week.”

One of the students, Charlie Illingworth, donated £16 to the Poppy Appeal after saving it up to donate to the Royal British Legion’s appeal.
