KEIGHLEY-district has been going Children in Need crazy.

Schools, groups and businesses have staged a range of fundraising activities as part of the annual charity extravaganza.

Youngsters at Oakworth Primary School today took part in rambles around the village.

All 471 pupils, from nursery age to year six, were involved.

At Keighley Community Nursery, in Braithwaite Grove, events were held over a few weeks and a record £1,000-plus has been raised.

Staff, children and family members took part.

Activities included face painting, children's art auctions, obstacle courses, odd sock days, dance-a-thons, colouring competitions, bake sales, market stalls, tombolas and raffles.

Joanna Berry, nursery & after school club manager, said: "We have raised our highest amount ever.

"A huge thank-you goes to everyone who donated, baked, planned, volunteered and facilitated all the exciting events – and especially Pudsey Bear, who popped in to see us!"

Keighley Bus Company staff donned costumes and collected for the cause.

Donations were given in the bus station works canteen and on some of the services.

At Silsden Primary School, pupils wore yellow or spotty clothing and gave donations.

They together raised £661.

Pudsey Bear made a surprise visit to Strong Close Nursery School and Children's Centre, in Keighley.

The children and families baked and sold cakes and biscuits, helping to coin-in over £200.

Youngsters also wore spotty outfits, had their faces painted and went on a Pudsey Bear trail.
