KEIGHLEY-shot movie God’s Own Country has won top awards at the prestigious Stockholm International Film Festival.

The jury at the 28th annual festival gave Francis Lee the award for best director and Josh O’Connor the award for best actor.

The film focusing on the hardships of modern-day farm life featured scenes shot in the Keighley, Haworth and Laycock.

The film shows Josh O’Connor’s character becoming overwhelmed with managing his farm and trying to compensate with binge drinking and casual sex.

After hiring a Romanian migrant for the lambing season, the pair first clash then develop and an intense and passionate relationship.

Keighley Film Club recently hosted a screening of the movie at the town’s Picture House cinema.

God’s Own Country was also runner-up for the audience award, losing out to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
