AN electric car charging point in Keighley has been used 65 times since 2015, new figures show.

The device was installed – thanks to a joint Keighley Town Council, Bradford Council and Government venture – at the Scott Street car park in late 2014.

Data from Bradford Council reveals that a similar charging point, by Ian Clough Hall at Baildon, has been used 162 times during about the equivalent period.

But the Keighley machine had been affected by a technical problem.

The usage data was released in response to a question from Baildon councillor Debbie Davies.

The points were installed at a combined cost of £19,170.

Keighley's device was part funded with £2,500 from the town council's watch and transport committee.

The district has a third public charge point, at Exchange Court in central Bradford. It was installed earlier this year to replace one at council office Jacobs Well, which is now solely for use by the authority's electric vehicle fleet.
